An update on my brother, Tim Stein ~ July 19th (my eulogy - TopicsExpress

An update on my brother, Tim Stein ~ July 19th (my eulogy delivered yesterday at your funeral) Tim ~ I began writing this eulogy on my way to say “Goodbye” to you in February as you were losing your battle…and here I am delivering the speech in July. The time span symbolizes the subject of this speech which is “the most important lesson I learned from my younger brother”…you taught many lessons throughout your life to anyone who knew you and many who didn’t…lessons before your illness and during your fight…lessons which will continue to carryon. The lesson that you taught me which I value the most is the importance of unconditional love. Unconditional Love ~ Tim, you taught me and anyone who knew you about unconditional love…in a world full of conditions and judgments, I never doubted your love for me or for any other friend or family member. It didn’t matter where anyone came from, what they did for a living, who they hurt in their past…if they came into your life, they received unconditional love. I remember calling you during a rough patch in my life and you said sis, you can do anything...doesnt matter. ..you are my sister so I will love you. Unconditional Love is powerful…its strength is immense. Anyone who followed your illness via my updates, visits with you, or through word of mouth, witnessed the power that unconditional love can have. During the roller coaster of your hospital time, you responded time and time again during the lower times to my voice, to my hand holding, to my encouraging words...and you gathered the strength to keep fighting. ..to keep fighting towards your goal of getting home to your family…you wanted to “finish your job”. Our unconditional love has inspired many…I have received many many messages from people that we know, some your friends…some my friends…even people that never met us but caught our story via a friend…these messages are filled with people’s stories about pulling their siblings closer, about halting a feud with family members, about calling siblings they haven’t heard from in years…even your physical therapist took a one week vacation to spend with her brother in Houston…enjoying a solid week with her brother…she thanked us both for that invaluable inspiration that led to many cherished memories for her and her brother. In addition, my family…my husband, Stefan and my daughters, Stephanie, Annabelle, and Melody, who have sacrificed a lot these past months, traveled to see Stefans brother, my brother in law, be promoted to Colonel in the United States Army. Todd, now Colonel Jones, made a speech about leadership and support which included his sadness of hearing about your death, but more importantly his pride in our journey. Be proud, my brother, for your amazing strength during this journey has taught people nationwide and beyond about the importance of unconditional love…about holding friends and family close…and about cherishing each day. Tim, you fought your way through many battles...and just because you did not survive our journey on earth, you did not lose the war…YOU will live on. Your goal of getting home to your family…to “finish your job”…I believe you are surrounding them now and will surround them with your unconditional love forever…your job will be never-ending. Thank you, my brother for sharing this journey with me and for teaching me more than you ever EVER realized. I love you. ♥ XOXO Sis
