An update on my week in the hospital.....It looks like I will be in the hospital until at least Saturday. It has been a roller coaster of a week, for sure. Came to the ER with fever and lower abdominal pain. Sounds normal enough, but no not me. The simple part was a UTI, but also colitis with a large section of inflaimed colon. Then there was the sepsis, a bacterial infection in my blood, not just any bacteria, group c strep, which only gets into your bloodstream thru an open wound and I dont have any wounds. So, on Sunday my blood pressure drops so low the cannot give me any pain meds. Then fluid starts to build in my abdominal cavity and they go in with a needle and draw off 2 liters of fluid. So now I am on lasix but they think they will have to draw off more fluid before I go home. I will also have a scope tomorrow. And a heart echo....the bacteria in my blood tends to attack the heart. The fluid buildup is caused from liver damage which they think is a result of my diabetes. So I have multiple problems, mostly unrelated, just my luck, that all hit at the same time. I am definitely on the mend now but my mother asked one of the doctors what would have happened if I had not come in when I did..he asked if she wanted the blunt answer.... 4 or 5 more hours I would probably have come in an ambulance...and if I had not come at all I would not be here to tell you how blessed I am to be alive today. Moral of the story.... when your body tells you to go to the doctor, dont wait 2 more days like I did. A huge thank you to all who have been praying for me and to all of the VEA volunteers who jumped in and are taking care of the farm!!!! I love you all. Jimmy comes twice a day most days and I know its taking a toll on him, but thats what a great marriage is all about, I love you and the kids, and grandkids so much, dont know what I would do without my family.
