An update re this mornings meeting with GreenPak. GreenPak and Swieqi LC. will be launching an educational campaign with regards to recyclable waste in the near future. We will be sending flyers with necessary information to what can be recycled and days of collection. Included with the flyer will be a voucher entitling every household to free green bags redeemable from our council offices. In direct contact with the residents we are going do some home visits on Thursdays to residents that dont have recycled waste infront of their residences to promote recycling. Like in other localities GreenPak will be giving out small hampers to a number of residents who recycle . These are chosen at random on Thursdays. Re glass collection door to door , unfortunately we cannot start next week even though it will be the first Friday of the month. The policy of GreenPak is to educate and inform prior to starting a new service and next week is too close . I asked GreenPak to at least start the service 1st Friday of October. They believe that this is possible. Other things mentioned this morning were the importance of areas around bring in sites to be kept clean and maybe walls around them will be built. I also suggested to hold talks for the residents at our new premises re waste management were we would have experts talking about the subject. Swieqi LC , GreenPak and Residents , lets make Swieqi cleaner.
