Anambra Guber: PDP Presents Aspirants Today By: Okechukwu Obeta on August 9, 2013 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today in Awka, the Anambra state capital, present to its members and supporters the aspirants for the November 16 gubernatorial election. The party has, however, raised alarm that it had uncovered plot by the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to rig the October 5 local government council election in the state. Chairman of the party in the state, Prince Ken Emeakayi and the party’s South East zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ali Odefa disclosed this at separate press briefings yesterday. Emeakayi told newsmen that the party’s gubernatorial aspirants would be unveiled to the party members and supporters today at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, and, assured that this timeround all the aspirants would be subjected to primaries for the election of the party’s governorship flag-bearer for the forthcoming governorship contest in the state. He said that there would be no imposition of governorship candidate on the party; that candidate of the party for the governorship election would emerge though a primary that would be conducted in the state. He, however, raised an alarm thata member of APGA had boasted to him that the results of the forthcoming council polls in the state had already been written bythe state Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) and that the result which was only waiting to be released on October 5, the day they fixed for the election was completely written in favour of APGA. Also, re-echoing Emeakayi’s voice, Odefa stated that the party had directed all its members and supporters to mobilise video cameras to video-record the pollsto ensure that APGA’s rigging plotwas voided.
