#Anarchy does not mean there are NO RULES. It means there are NO RULERS. There is such a thing as natural law; in brief, the golden rule, or more broadly and thoroughly delineated as the Non-Aggression Principle and Principle of Self-Ownership. Rape, for example, is always abhorrent. Even in todays archaic and - might I add - Draconian retributive justice system, the most swift and readily exacted form of justice in such things as rape is so-called vigilante justice. Whether performed by disgruntled and grieving family and friends OR by fellow prison inmates who define such infringements as rape (especially certain kinds or the most egregious kinds of rape) more strictly than do the largely arbitrary and incredibly convoluted laws. The vast majority of people in society consciously, overtly, or at least subconsciously prefer this method of arrival at justice to the form handed down by the magistrate. Thats anarchy. Its in all of us. And though I prefer restorative justice models to retributive ones, it serves to make the point that absent some rulers and their poorly transcribed, selectively enforced rules known as laws, society will get by in a way that is widely preferable to the defunct and misappropriated state-serving justice system. Again, I want to be clear that IMO there is a more compassionate, peaceful model to be preferred over both the inherently violent vigilante and statist retributive models.
