Anatolia series - portraits of pioneers in tourism research & education... As you may know, almost two years ago ANATOLIA started playing another leading role in launching a new series named as “portraits of pioneers in tourism research and education” that aims to introduce two or three internationally well-recognized and respected tourism scholars in its each issue. The first portrait of this series was dedicated to Erik Cohen in 2013, followed by Jafar Jafari and including many more to date.. With varying periods of time from one week to six months, each portrait is completed in cooperation with the remarkable efforts of one or two colleauges from different ranks, countries and even fields who do their best to reveal the profile of scholars and acknowledge their countless contributions and lifetime achievements committed to the dissemination of tourism knowledge and education commencing from 1940s up to now.. Bearing in mind tha notion that without understanding the past, no way to design the future, we expect that the series would be a valuable source to establish a bridge between past, present and future, and also provide the background information to develop tourism-based theories and models hopefully in the near future.. With your esteemed efforts and contributions, we hope to complete such a precious, compelling also time-demanding puzzle with its many pieces soon in the future.. Below please find a list of completed portraits and already published in the journal (by date of publication): Jost Krippendorf - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.971637 Clare Gunn – tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.973244 Rik Medlik - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.905134 Brent Ritchie - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.963783 Pauline J Sheldon - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.958799 Chuck Goeldner – tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.955381 Alastair Morrison - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.920689 Chris Cooper - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.908266 Dick Butler - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.903745 John Crompton - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.921112 Brian Archer - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2014.896169 Josef Mazanec - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.869655 Steve Smith - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.855974 Carson L Jenkins - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.870418 Arch Woodside - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.814021 Abraham Pizam - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.849994 Geoffrey Wall - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.807390 Jafar Jafari - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.813354 Erik Cohen - tandfonline/doi/full/10.1080/13032917.2013.785694 More to come in the next few months and years..
