And Because I havent made a list for a while, these are the best short stories I have read thus far: 1. Dusk in Fierce Pajamas, E.B. White 2. The Ice Palace, F. Scott Fitzgerald 3. Luckily The Account Representative Knew CPR, David Foster Wallace 4. The Rug, Meg Mullins 5. A Perfect Day for Bananafish, J.D. Salinger 6. A Long Walk To Forever, Kurt Vonnegut 7. The Deaths: An Elegy, Joyce Carol Oates 8. The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Ernest Hemingway 9. Najis Taliban Phase, Michael Finkel 10. Journal of a Cobra Recruit, Keith Pile 11. My Manuscript, David Sedaris 12. Rothchilds Fiddle, Anton Chekhov 13. The Green Meadow, H.P. Lovecraft 14. The Ministers Black Veil, Nathaniel Hawthorne 15. It was a short story in Zoetrope: All-Story, back in 2003 I think and it was called something like Love & Helium, but Im not certain. Im sure I am missing a bunch, but these were the only ones I enjoyed enough to have the titles burned in my head. Any others somebody wants to suggest? Ive been making a list so I dont forget to read whatever works people recommend. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, I purposely only listed each writer once because if I didnt the list would only consist of works by Fitzgerald, Salinger and Hawthorne.
