“And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five - TopicsExpress

“And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years (a number of a perfect revolution): And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him” Genesis 5:23, 24. What a wonderful thing to walk with God until he decides to take you from the earth because you have befriended him to his desire. This is a good example set for us by God that we should walk with him. We are given another example in Genesis 6:9 “These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God”. This man lived according to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and God being his witness that he was righteous in his sight. This is an example of a testimony we need to follow whom God credited with righteousness because he mastered perfection in the profession of his pilgrimage. Galatians 5:25 says “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”. We should keep in step so that we face all challenges with God. Abraham was given the secret of walking with God and maintaining his step with the Holy Spirit. We are told in Genesis 17:1-2 “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly”. The secret is perfection. What is perfection? The Encarta Dictionary defines being perfect as being “without errors, flaws or faults”. Striving for perfection is a quality of eliminating errors and faults in our life until we reach a stage where God himself recognises our perfection. Perfection and holiness are different. Holiness has to do with consecration while perfection is achieved through obedience and practice. God expects us as Christian to flow in our communion with the Holy Spirit. He expects us to master the lessons given to us in church, at home and by the Holy Spirit until the flaws are eliminated. When the Holy Spirit says fast and pray, we should just do it without postponing, this is perfection. Perfection has nothing to do with age. It has everything to do with obedience and not how old you are. If age mattered then all the elderly people will be perfect, but it is not like that with God. Abraham was instructed at the age of 99 to be perfect. You still can be perfect at your very age as long as you are prepared to obey God to the point. The benefits of walking with God are that he enters into a covenant with us such that we would not lack in anything. Truthfully speaking we lack because we are not keeping in step with him. David said in Psalms 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want (lack)”. Obey him and allow him to be your shepherd for perfection and all will be well with you.
