And finally, the winner. Firstly, this doesnt fit my criteria for novelty song. Essentially, remove the fact that the song is performed by a drag queen and you still have a fantastic song which - among other things - could double as a Bond theme. Secondly, the performance, particularly in the final, was nothing short of magisterial. As with the Swedish entry, this was a song which had to be done dead-right or not at all, and the result was a masterclass. Listening to it now, it strikes me that Conchita and Sanna both had the audience singing along, which I dont believe Ive ever seen at Eurovision before, but goes to show the depth of support for both of them. Well done to Conchita and Austria. Now to spend 11 months or so hoping Vienna15 can somehow work Kommissar Rex into Eurovision!
