And he said unto them, Ye are they who justify yourselves before - TopicsExpress

And he said unto them, Ye are they who justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. (Luke 16:15) Jesus often rebuked the Pharisees for their self-righteousness. They were bent on establishing their own righteousness while rejecting the righteousness of God (Rom. 10:3). Here, they were guilty of covetousness (Luke 16:14), a term translated from Greek that literally means money-loving. The Pharisees believed their highly valued wealth, combined with their own righteousness, was a sign of Gods blessing upon them. So, they laughed at Jesus when He denounced their love for money (Luke 16:13-14). Do you value something in your life equal to or above God? Do you regard your possessions as Gods stamp of approval on your life? Remember, God knows our hearts and there may be things in our life that are an abomination to Him. If you havent put your faith in Christ, repent of your sins and trust in Him - God will save you from your sin and make you righteous. For, we have no righteousness (Isa. 64:6) except that which God imputes or reckons to us (Rom. 4:24).
