And heres another sign of fools who just dont get it. Coming from a city that was boosted by the slave trade, although like similar UK ports, Liverpool, Cardiff, Glasgow, etc have now long-established black and mixed race communities,many descended from the people who escaped from slave ships and found refuge in those cities. The Museum of Liverpool had a standing exhibition about the slave trade and it was only by visiting that as a small child that I first learned the full horror of that trade. Would these foolish protesters be picketing that exhibition should it still exist? And would anyone like to tell me the difference between this exhibition and a film like Twelve Years A Slave, for example?
