And if one....suffers. During this beautiful Christmas season, where we gather around the blessings of Joy, Hope, Good News, Family, and Rejoicing - we must remember that the Lord has reminded the members of the body of Christ, in His word, to be aware of those who suffer. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. (1st Corinthians 12:26). God is not trying to bum us out - or - rain on the parade by telling us this. In fact, quite the contrary, He is actually helping us to increase our joy, by rescuing us from the snares of selfishness, insensitivity, and self centered living. Our heavenly Father knows that the truest form of living - will always be expressed in giving. Among all that we could ever give, How important it is to God, that we slow down and give some real quality time, to truly pray for the families and children here in America and around the world who are in the grips of suffering. This suffering may take on many forms, but the bottom line is - suffering - is suffering. This does not mean that we do not give of our finances, time, and resources to relieve suffering whenever, and where ever we can. What it means is that we do not allow our hearts to become unaware, numb, or insensitive to the reality of those who suffer, just because we can write a check, or serve a meal. Jesus taught us to do both. He said: ...These things you ought to have done, without neglecting the other. (Matthew 23:23). God wants our hearts to beat in tempo with His heart, and to go beyond the limited view of our own existence, assumptions, or patterns. Bless the Lords heart. Go before Him in prayer, as often as you can, and lift up the suffering brethren. Pray that God will destroy the power of evil operating in wicked men who violently attack, torture and kill innocent men, women and children. Pray for the relief of suffering in every possible way. Tell Him you are aware of it, and that you will never become numb to it, or take for granted the magnitude of blessing in your own life. This is true fellowship with Jesus. Paul the apostle said: That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings... (Philippians 3:10). GODS LOVE NEVER FAILS.
