“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…” - TopicsExpress

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…” (Matthew 6 vs 13). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today. It is instructive to note that apart from teaching the disciples to pray against temptations, Jesus also taught them to pray, “DELIVER US FROM EVIL”. Jesus taught his disciples to pray that God would deliver them from evil. The word ‘DELIVER’ as used in that Scripture could be interpreted to mean ‘RESCUE US TO YOURSELF’. So, Jesus taught them to pray that God will rescue them to Himself. Jesus didn’t talk about deliverance alone; He talked about deliverance that would take us back to God. He didn’t talk about receiving deliverance and walking away from God; He spoke about being delivered and staying close to God. Jesus was indirectly saying that as much as it is imperative to be pulled out of evil, it is also imperative that we be drawn back to God. Friend, God is not only interested in delivering you from your challenge; He also wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to pull you out of sin, and have you worship Him in Spirit and in truth. He wants to deliver you from Lack, Fear, Pain, Confusion, Depression etc, not for you to walk away but for you to get closer to him. The matter of deliverance or being delivered doesn’t only involve what you step out of, it also involves what you step into. If God delivers you and you remain far from Him, you are simply inviting the enemy to come and take you back to the same bondage you were rescued from. Pray with me, “Lord, as you deliver me from every challenge, cause me to stay with you in Jesus name”. Have a blessed Monday and a Fruitful Week ahead! In this Month of September, You shall operate in NENIKEKA ! (Its a Greek Word for Absolute, Total, and Complete Victory). Your Testimonies and laughter shall not end on the way in Jesus name. It shall be total and complete in Jesus name!
