There is another coming! The emphasis that is being placed on this name is of a necessity, such that we recognize its attributes and discern the deceitfulness of this nature! The son of perdition= The offspring of utter destruction! “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden DESTRUCTION comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 The people of God in days of old knew that there was destruction on the horizon, but instead of seeking God’s face, instead of finding that Holy place and staying there, they partied on their roofs, they spoke about their own issues but not their own sins; they refused to hear the prophets, they refused to admit their rebellious ways! They desired to hear how they would overcome the king that was coming to take them away! They desired to hear how their earthly King would deliver them from the hand of their enemies. They wished to only hear about security and harmony and how things would work out well for them. “And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things say He that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know your works, that you have a name that you live, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you.” Revelation 3:1-3
