And speaking of grebes...... Thank you to Dave Ruane for sending me this article from Wyoming Game and Fish about all the stranded horned grebes that have been turning up in Green River, Wyoming. It seems that our recent cold snap has frozen much of the open water, leaving grebes hard pressed to find rivers and streams to land in. I imagine thats what happened to the little grebe I found stranded in the middle of the North Fork Highway yesterday. Some people wondered what grebes looked like, so be sure to check out the pix at the end of the article. I didnt take any photos of the little guy I found yesterday, but after looking at the photos, Im sure he (or she) was a horned grebe.
