And the Oscar goes to.......... At One Horizon there is nothing exotic or incredible about our work. We just do our best to help people. Often we do the work that other agencies won’t do mostly because other agencies are often dictated to by governments who insist on sustainability. But without the red tape One Horizon is able to meet the most basic needs of our communities. We are able to feed hungry kids and communities. And we have been doing that for years. But many people says to us…. “Where is your success story, you know… a child lifted from poverty who goes on to complete university or something like that?” It’s amazing how many people are looking for a Hollywood type ending to our work. Forget the fact that for years the kids we have fed have been kept a lot healthier than they would’ve been, that they can concentrate in class rather than crying from hunger pains and that they can be kids again. Forget the fact that they are happier little kids than ever before. But that’s probably not the Hollywood ending that many people want, no standing ovations for those accomplishments. But if Steven Spielberg could make a movie out of that with a happy ending it might be the ultimate piece of cinema graphic fantasy that would satisfy our harshest critics. If he cannot, we couldn’t care less.
