And the hate mail pours in from this post. Serves me right, I suppose. How dare I give a voice to the middle class people who actually have to pay the price for this massive government entitlement scheme?! I know. Im a jerk. But to answer the most common question from the offended Statists: No, I dont intend to write another piece showing the other side of the story. You might think I should do that, but I wont. Im interested in the truth, and I wont throw a bone to the folks whod rather read lies just because it makes them more comfortable. Besides, the other side is already being promoted by, well, just the most powerful people in the world: the President, Hollywood, most of corporate media, the Washington elite. And with all of those wealthy and influential fat cats flooding the airwaves with pro-Obamacare propaganda, you get upset at a lil ol blogger for not lending them a hand? Goodness. Get a grip. Obama got up on national TV yesterday and went on a 20 minute sales pitch. He surrounded himself with supposedly happy Obamacare customers. HE didnt balance the picture by mentioning any of the people whove been screwed by his legislation. So, while you lambaste me, I assume you emailed the White House with a similar complaint. Right? Right. Yet this is all academic. Here is the real reason why Ive only chronicled the negative Obamacare tales: Because these stories represent the cost. Everything has a cost. Government programs, especially, have a cost. Left wing media can give us the puff pieces about the people who are enjoying the fruits of the Affordable Care Act, Im more interested in getting to the bottom of how those fruits were reaped. So, you like your premiums under Obamacare? Great. Good for you. Now read these stories. This is what it took to get you that wonderful deal. Dont hide from it. Dont be a coward. Confront it. I wanted to show everyone that Obamacare not only has a cost, but that the cost is serious and harmful, and it doesnt fall on the wealthy -- it falls on low and middle income families. Thats the point. A point to which the apologist proclaims, well, we cant make everyone happy! Yes, how very true. And thats why government shouldnt be in the business of trying to make anyone happy at all. Happiness and unhappiness, success and failure, sickness and health, life and death -- these are extremes that should come from freedom, not from government engineering. But thats a topic for another post. themattwalshblog/2013/10/21/the-definitive-guide-to-how-obamacare-is-destroying-american-lives/
