And this is WHY people should have gone an voted! This Government wants to get rid of the Māori seats, which will mean that Māori will no longer have any influence (even though it is already little) in Government! There wont be any focus on issues concerning Māori people! Pushing to have the Historic treaty settlements done by 2014? This is not beneficial to the Māori nor to the Crown (but most of all the Tax payer) this could cause problems in such that wrong judgement be made (meaning over payment as such) these things can not be made over night and needs time to ensure best is outed for both sides! Moving the Treaty Claims under the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet? Why so he can say NO NO NO NO NO to any claims thy are made? So he can have more influence on the decisions made? Pleeeeeeease Good on Aunty Helen for speaking out! She is right these actions will cause strain in the communities more than ever, our people will be divided more so should this happen, it will be more of a them attitude out there! This people is why more Māori should have got out there and voted! This is how we need to make a stand by going in force to voting polls through out the Motu! Pushing our right to be governing our own!
