And when you are greeted with a greeting,greet with a better (greeting) than it or return it. Surely Allah likes account of all greetings (Quran.4:86) Islam is a religion of peace, teach compassion with each other and pray for each other brother. greeting is is one of the Muslim identity which is the salvation prayer and affection for his brother (fellow Muslims). if a Muslim to say: Assalamualaikum then answer him more than that: wa alaikum salam wa Rahmatullah. or more better : wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. but if not, at least return it with the same answer : wa alaikum salam. because saying salam is sunnah, but is obliged/wajib to answer it
