And why do we need the EU to function as federal government? So that we can respond positively to the humanitarian crisis that is overwhelming the Middle East with asylum seekers being spread and supported fairly across the whole of the EU instead of countries like Sweden and Germany who are taking more than their fair share thus leading to these political tensions. Across the whole of the EU I am sure that we can absorb large numbers of asylum seekers and EU nations that have been emptied out of their bright talented young people can actually benefit from taking those people but of course the EU is incapable of functioning as federal government, its founding treaties forbid that!
