Anders Flaa was a pretty memorable seventh-grader, according to Marc Angell, an Oak View Middle School (OVMS) science teacher who first met him in class in 2009. “He was that student who lit up the room and everyone gravitated toward. He always had a story to tell and always had the time to listen to a story or offer help to anybody who needed it,” Angell said. It was also during that seventh-grade year in 2009 that Flaa discovered he had a brain tumor. For two years Flaa battled it, and reatment and surgeries rarely took the smile off his face, Angell said. But on Oct. 13, 2011, then a ninth-grader, passed away. More: bit.ly/10P5t1e
