Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu met leaders from Kurnool at the Lakeview Guest House today. The team of leaders was led by Deputy Chief Minister Sri K.E Krishna Murthy. In a meeting with the Chief Minister, the team made a slew of requests to develop Kurnool. They requested that Kurnool be developed as a smart city and be given a IIIT, a solar park and a mini airport. The team of leaders also requested the Chief Minister to make Nandyal a seed development hub (in collaboration with the Central government) and also asked to finish the Railway Coach manufacturing unit in Kurnool. Meeting the Chief Minister on Andhra Pradesh’s first Independence Day Celebrations after bifurcation, the leaders also requested that the district be included in major development projects of the state government. The leaders also requested the Chief Minister to ensure the completion of Kurnool to Chittoor two-lane Highway and include Kurnool in the Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor. They also informed the Chief Minister that the Nandyala-Porumamilla-Krishnapatnam route has been identified and could be developed once necessary clearances are given. They have also asked the Chief Minister to look into Abdullapuram Reservoir and also have proposed setting up of Krishna River Board in Kurnool. Proposals for Gundrevula reservoir on the Tungabadra and Vedavati project have been put forward by the leaders. They have also proposed the setting up of a Cancer Hospital, a mining college in Done and making the Kurnool Government General Hospital an autonomous one. The Chief Minister was informed that the Owk Reservoir be developed into a tourism spot because of its proximity to Belum Caves and also establish a Cricket Stadium in Johrapuram. Given that the city has a high Urdu-speaking population, the Chief Minister was also requested to sanction Urdu University. Former minister T.G. Venkatesh, MP S.P.Y. Reddy, MLAs Janardhan Reddy and Jayanageshwar Reddy, Shilpa Mohan Reddy and others were present.
