Andrew has had an up and down busy day. He is slowly being weaned - TopicsExpress

Andrew has had an up and down busy day. He is slowly being weaned off the vent and blood gases are ok. His Carbon dioxide levels were a little higher after his last wean and calcium and potassium a little low, so they will replace those things and balance him back out to see how it goes. His arterial line busted open at the end cap and sprayed blood all over his bed and wall in his room. Ive never seen that before, but he has a wonderful nurse who kinked the line and got all of that fixed and tubing piece replaced. His sedation meds are to a minumum and hes fought and gagged on the ventilator all day, which causes him to cough and sats to drop with him needing all that junk suctioned out of his throat. The past few days weve had several of his favorite nurses from CSU stop in and check on him after hearing he was here. His social worker, doctors etc. They really do become our second family here. Other than that this transplant thing is weighing on me so heavily. We just moved into our house and was getting all of our family under one roof again and we had to leave again, and this time for who knows how long. :( I am having such a hard time with missing the girls so much in the past 5 and a half months. I wish I could be in two places at once. Im glad we at least had a small birthday cake and presents for Kaitlin the night before we were hospitalized and I sat and did all the girls nails and toes before I left. Having to be away so often for so long is hard to explain...
