Andrij Olynec Today Ukraine died. The parliament pushed through a bill on 2014 Budget without any debate or discussion of the said bill. And then the unthinkable happened: without any reason to do so, deputy chairman of parliament ordered parliamentarians to vote by show of hand on a package of 11 bills that regulate all loop-holes that allowed Ukrainians to show dissatisfaction with the government and assemble in peaceful protests up until now. As of tomorrow, Ukrainians will be criminally persecuted for: - moving in a row of more than 5 cars on the roads (i guess traffic jams are now illegal); - inquiring about any information on any judge (name, date of birth, etc); - wearing helmets, large hats, scarves in time of protest; - assembling outside anyones property (whatever that one means); - printing, voicing any extremist messages (i guess extremism will be defined by yanukovich at a later date) or aiding in any way for these messages to become public; - all Internet or otherwise sources of information must have a government-issued license; - handful of other idiotic measures And my personal favorite: as of tomorrow all criminal judicial proceedings may be held by a simplified process and in absentia of the defendant.
