Andy, Opp to play today in 10U winner’s finals Published Andalusia Star: Andalusia and Opp’s 10U Cal Ripken All-Stars will face each other in today’s District 8 winner’s bracket finals at 2 p.m. at the Opp Sports Complex. The Bulldogs defeated Evergreen 15-5 in the night cap during their quarterfinal game, while Opp dispatched of Brewton, 12-5. Terrance Salter went 2-for-3 with a three-run inside-the-park home run to lead Andalusia in its mercy-rule win. Gage Messick went 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Also hitting well for Andalusia was Joseph Turner, who went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning, five runs in the second, five runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. In Opp’s win over Brewton, the Bobcats bounced back from a 4-1 deficit to come up with some timely hits and runs when they needed them to come together. Opp scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning and five runs in the top of the sixth to pull away. Walt Spurlin went 2-for-4; Ethan Cox went 2-for-4; and JT Dee went 2-for-3 to lead Opp.
