Anga is a widow in her forties. After her husband’s death, Anga - TopicsExpress

Anga is a widow in her forties. After her husband’s death, Anga had to find a way to cover her four children’s education expenses. She had an idea to sell ready-made meals to working women, but couldn’t afford to finance her idea. So, Anga took her first loan of 50 Jordanian Dinar ($69) and started cooking meals out of her home. However, Anga became ill and needed to be hospitalized. Women’s World Banking worked in Jordan to develop a microhealth insurance product, Caregiver, for women, like Anga. Anga recovered, with minimal impact on her business. Step by step her business grew. Anga rented a new work place, employed five other women and is now distributing to well-known supermarkets and restaurants. Anga believes there is more to achieve and looks forward to growing her business even further. And we agree. That’s why we created our “There’s Nothing Micro about One Billion Women” Campaign – to call attention to the fact that a billion women have no access to basic financial services. Today, we are asking you to consider an end-of-year gift of $2500, $1000, $500, $250, $100 or whatever you can afford - – to help us reach those un- and under-banked women.
