Angelas Backyard Farm is complete at last. Today we took a drive to Camperdown to collect these two hyline laying hens - Dusty & Angel. What I learnt about these cluckers: 1. Hyline hens are great layers and can lay up to 5 eggs each a week. 2. While the hens are young they lay small eggs, as the hens get fatter they lay more & bigger eggs. 3. Laying Hens lay well for approx 2 years then they start to lay fewer eggs per week. 4. I must keep them in the cage for 3 days for adjustment before leaving them to them the garden. 5. I also learnt how to clip their wings. You only need to clip 1 wing. If you are interested in getting some hens yourself, I purchased mine from rabbits.za.net Kelly was very helpful.
