Angels Story: He showed up on Scott AFB and hung around our place for a long time. We fed him and kept trying to get him inside, but he was having none of that. Id finally gotten him to the point that if I sat on the carport and held still, hed come up and eat next to me. That was when I first noticed his orc jawline and various gimps and crooked place in his body. Hed already had a pretty hard kittenhood from the looks of things. One night, I stepped out to feed him and there was blood all over the driveway and he was under the bench. He still wouldnt come out to me. So I got a can of salmon and the cat trap and hoped....Id not even gotten in the door when the trap went. He was a hot mess, broken jaw, left front paw chewed to bits, shotgun pellets stuck in his back, tail and hips. Luckily our vet took it up as a challenge and after a week of intensive care, he was allowed to come home. Ugly as sin with his fangs all out and twisted but oh that PURRRRR. All caps because that is always how he PURRED! We thought we were going to lose him about 3yrs ago as his heart wasnt even pumping full time, but he was fine otherwise (even though he didnt register on an EKG so we called him Zombie Cat as a joke). I knew something was wrong tonight when I came home as he didnt come for food. When I found him in the dogs bed (they were great buddies), he was staring at the wall and his ears and paws were like ice. His borrowed time had finally run out. Im sure that his cat buddy being missing for 3 weeks didnt help, and I hope when SiouxZ comes home hell understand. I also hope that Angel didnt feel SiouxZ pass somehow and give up on him. I will miss his raggedy face, his incessant purr and his absolute acceptance of any animal and human he ever met. Via con Dios Angel.
