Anger is growing across the Atlantic over the US spying on phone - TopicsExpress

Anger is growing across the Atlantic over the US spying on phone records and Internet data inside America and Europe. The spying has not even spared America’s close allies that are members of the EU. The US has been spying on the EU offices and European embassies in New York, Washington and Brussels. Recent polls show people in Germany are concerned about Washington’s espionage activities in Europe. The EU could reconsider agreements with the US on the sharing of air passenger information and financial data, the bloc warned Friday, amid heightened tensions between the two sides over the spying scandal. In another development, the Bolivian president says his country is mulling over the closure of the US embassy in La Paz, following a diplomatic spat over the forced landing of his plane in Europe as the US’s intelligence wrongly concluded that Edward Snowden was abroad the plane. What do you think about the extensive NSA spying saga at home and abroad? Are you on Snowden’s side or the US government’s side? Why? What do you think should be the response of the EU and the South American governments to the scandal?
