Anislaibchen (German anise drop cookies) 4 eggs 1 1/4 c sugar 3 c sifted flour 1 1/2 T anise seeds, ground Beat eggs with sugar about 30 mins by hand or 10 mins with an electric mixer/kitchen aid. Mixture should be almost white and thick enough to ribbon. Sift flour again and add it to the egg batter, a little at a time, working in well between additions. Mix in anise seeds, ground. (I use a coffee grinder to grind mine but you could get anise already ground. CHeck the oriental section of your store for the cheapest star anise.) Drop dough from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving an inch or so between each one. Let dry uncovered overnight. Bake in a preheated 300 oven until light golden brown. About 20 mins.
