Anita Graham Dudra gave me the number 8 and Vickie Raines, gave me - TopicsExpress

Anita Graham Dudra gave me the number 8 and Vickie Raines, gave me 9. Here comes 9! 9. My parents immigrated from The Netherlands, little over two years apart. They were engaged, and only communicated across the ocean by letter--not by phone, email, text, or Skype! (Ed father immigrated from Switzerland as a stowaway. Thats another story for Ed to tell.) 8. Have used sticky notes for years for reminders--even a note pad is beside my bed. Now am trying to put all my reminders on my iPhone, with my iPhone beside me in bed, with the phone charger constantly in use. One never knows what reminder needs to go on the phone in the middle of the night. 7. Anita McGee and J.R. McGee were married in Hong Kong on 11/11/2001. Anita had to wear three different dresses that day, Chinese tradition. (One of her beautiful dresses had tulips on it--to go with JRs Dutch heritage. Since I was the mother of the groom, I thought I needed to do the same thing!! One dress had to be red.) 6. Two of our four grandchildren (Amanda and Abbie McGee) were born overseas (Hong Kong and South Africa) and the other two (Josiah and Jaymin McGee) were brought into the world with help from Laura Hamilton, a wonderful midwife in rural Chehalis! 5. My father decided at the end of my third grade, it was time for me to drive the farm tractors. Summers were spent in the fields, which built my work ethic. My favorite tractor is an Oliver, with Case coming in second. I really enjoy tractor pulls. Driving a tractor in a tractor pull is on my bucket list! 4. I played Girls Basketball at Centralia College my Freshman year. 3. I was the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year for the Class of 1966 at Onalaska High School. (What a surprise! I was good at written tests… If I had to bake something in front of judges, not so good--I did make some biscuits in Home Ed, without any baking powder… I also put a cup of flour to make a white sauce, which only called for a tablespoon.) 2. I was the first person in my immediate family to finish college. I remember my parents at my St. Martins Graduation. Mom was smiling from ear to ear, and Dad had tears in his eyes! JR was waving at me wildly. He took my college diploma to show and tell. (BTW - at high school, community college and four-year college graduation ceremonies, I was the first graduate in line. How did that happen???) 1. I volunteered at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, for track and field. A bombing occurred during the games, which killed two people with many injured - very unsettling… (I stayed with Kristi Stelzner, and she had a darling little girl named Payton Zandofsky, who helped me relax after busy days at the track. Kristi also was pregnant with two little boys.) I will never forget the closing ceremonies at the Atlanta Olympics. Faith Hill rocked the stadium, as well as Gloria Estefan. There you have it!! Julie McDonald Zander, give us 8!
