#Anjaan A masala entertainer that has very less massive scenes to applaud or whistle at. The lengthy running time of 2 hours 50 minutes is a very big minus. Also, ANJAAN is too slow and predictable to be a great entertainer. For such a film, Raju Bhai’s characterization and his friendship with Chandru must have been the soul; but, it was not well established at all. For that purpose, the director seemed to be convinced with ‘BANG BANG’ song alone, which was also very average in picturization. Lingusamy could have spent much more time on sharpening the script, like focusing on Surya’s new getup and assembling a good technical team. There are some horrible twists like the girl in Farda at Surya’s house, which I don’t even want to speak about here. Starting from Raju’s intro scene, everything was not that powerful; the first stunt sequence was also much uninteresting. The dialogues / punches were poor, to say the least. Many scenes reminded us of some other popular films and even Lingusamy’s earlier films. Unfortunately, the villain’s looks and the scenes in 2nd half where Raju hunts all traitors one by one reminds of a recent Telugu blockbuster movie. Everything in the film is a template including an usual Tamil cinema ‘loosu’ heroine, who is used only as an eye candy in the songs. There is a popular comedian in the movie, there is an item song in the second half and there are some sentiment scenes, which does not work out in most parts. There are too much of unwanted build-ups for RAJU BHAI in every scene. Whenever there is a build-up for a mass hero in a commercial film, that must have a reason with a strong characterization or a great scene following; but, the unwanted build-ups in this film only bores & irritates the audience. Even, YUVAN disappoints in the movie. :o All the songs are very average and even the BGM is not the best as like Yuvan gives always, instead it is just lifted from his previous films and is a mixture of the main theme of #Billa2, #Panjaa and #Vettai. SURYA and few action blocks are the only plus points of the movie. Surya has given his best as usual, and he has put in lot of hardwork as for every other movie; but, Surya alone can’t save a film one-handedly everytime, right? Verdict - Templated masala entertainer. One time watch for Hard-core Surya fans and Masala movie lovers alone! My rating – 2.5/5 Detailed review in Box Office Boss shortly!
