Annas lungs show even more improvement today. Doctors have lowered her vent to a 6 and switched it to volume support, which allows her to control the breathing, in an effort to see if she is ready to come off of the ventilator. If she can hold her current path she may be able to come off tomorrow sometime. This morning early she came out of sedation and became combative for a while giving us a good work out for about 30 minutes. During that time while fighting as hard as she could she was able to maintain her O2 sats at an acceptable level. Today they will start adjusting her sedation a meds to keep her sedated but also allow them to wake her up enough that she can control her breathing once the ventilator is gone. This can be a challenge and she will experience withdrawals but they have introduces meds that will help ease the withdrawal pains. She will need fervent prayers, we are asking you pray that she can be removed from ventilator and no withdrawal pain. Once that is done we will have to start therapy so that she may go home.
