Anneliese Michel (21 September 1952 – 1 July 1976) was a German Catholic woman who was said to be possessed by demons, underwent an exorcism and died in 1976. A report into her cause of death stated that it was due to malnutrition and dehydration while the rites were being performed.The films Exorcism of Emily Rose, Requiem and Anneliese: The Exorcist Tapes, are all loosely based on or inspired by her case.
