Announcement from the family of Mt Morris Station. Today has been a day of much work to be completed. It is also a very sobering day, to see our much loved “Mt Morris” Station, appear not only once, but TWICE in last week’s Queensland Country life! “Mount Morris Gem” nearly a full page colour ad, then just under a quarter of a page, again, in colour in the real estate section...bet that cost a “pretty penny”. A huge thank you to Dick Smith for a generous donation, and also to so many generous people for their donations as well to get us to the first round. There is no way, that any amount of words can convey what our family are thinking, overwhelming does not even seem adequate, heartfelt thank you indeed. The responsibility to expose what has happened generally in the financial industry over the past few years is huge. It affects everyone, not just rural people, but everyone with a mortgage. I hear of many families losing their jobs in the Hunter region NSW, approx 1,500 now unemployed. What is going to happen with their mortgages? I hear of 400 homes at Mackay, QLD, empty – yet many homeless, and at the same time, how do families pay those mortgages? It is worrying about contractual obligations, and financiers that are and are not flexible with so many families across Australia. There are many reports of those whom have never missed an interest payment, or a debt reduction being foreclosed on due to LVR’s dropping. Equally there are those who are being foreclosed on whom have not paid interest, or principal reductions as well. We have seen the case of Beverly Priestly, foreclosing on her for a princely sum of just over $3,000.00 that she had not paid! Together the “cyber space” Australian community came to her aid. It did not matter how the position she came to eventuated, what mattered was that an Australian woman of the land was able to still continue on, producing livestock and grain when the drought breaks, and it will one day. So we urge caution to those who are supporting us, and so many other families on the land. When the financiers do, and they will, make some sort of announcements on particular families, remember who they are, and what they have the power to do. They have the funds to only “leak” little snippets if they so wish, to discredit farmers and families Australia wide, once those families such as those on Alan Jones show, or anywhere else speak up, possibly ourselves too, who knows?! Also, please remember that as we progress, we have to be very careful in our posts for now legal reasons, but that does not mean we will not be posting. Please welcome 2 new Admins to the site – one, well, they are about to get a great surprise, the other entered today with a well received “story” (we loved it too) to share with you all at this stressful time. The donations have steadily climbed in this order $50.00 initially, next count, $750.00 reached, next count, $1980.00 reached, next tally $2,528.00 reached, last count at 3.30pm was $5,538.47 this does not include the ever so generous donation of $5,000.00 from Dick Smith! We know their are more pledges to still be counted. Thank you for enabling the quest for justice to be heard once and for all. This is only the beginning no doubt. We have been told that the approx costs to start are in the range of $10,000.00 - $20,000.00 so we are well on our way for this first round. However, all things considered, we are very pleased with the raising the profile that things are going wrong (generically) in the bush, and indeed from coast line to cost line, all is not as the financiers would like it portrayed it appears is the resounding sound of “voices” being raised. Every farmer, grazier, small town, or city and coastal business operator has a “story” to tell. All stories leave one “gob smacked” as how they occurred, just shocking. It is time to take a stand for all, to see if a difference can be made for all. We are just an ordinary family. There is nothing unique or special that makes us stand out from the crowd. We make mistakes, equally we achieve our goals. However through your generosity, now our ordinary family has the chance to make a stand, the odds of doing it by ourselves would never have eventuated, so today, this ordinary family is humbled, and will fight to the end for all who have endured, city and bush, what we have endured. It is the right thing to do, it is the Australian thing to do to stand by your mates, thank you all.
