Announcement of Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK) According to the MOU on the Sending of Workers between the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea (MOEL) and the Ministry of Labour of the Kingdom of Thailand (MLKT), the 17th Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK) in Thailand is to be conducted as follows. All job seekers who want to work in Korea under the Employment Permit System should pass the EPS-TOPIK, implemented by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea) authorized by the MOEL, and only those who passed the test are allowed to submit the job application form for EPS. June 5th, 2014 Held by: Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea Implemented by: Human Resources Development service of Korea Cooperated by: Ministry of Labour of the Kingdom of Thailand and Department of Employment 1. Test Schedule: August 31th (Sunday), 2014 - 10:30~11:40(Session 1), 15:00~16:10(Session 2) - All examinees must show up by the designated time (09:30 for the session 1, 14:00 for the session 2) at the designated test room of the designated test venue. 2. (Allowed) Type of Industry : Manufacturing or Agriculture/Livestock or Construction - All applicants of 17th EPS-TOPIK can only choose one among ‘Manufacturing’, ‘Agriculture/Livestock’ and ‘Construction’ for selection of the type of industry. Choice of other type of industry is not allowed. Basically, your choice of industry cannot be changed afterwards, so please consider the industry carefully. 3. Notice for Test Venue and Time: August 22th (Fri.), 2014 - Test venue and time will be announced on the website of the DOE and the bulletin board of each registration place. 5. Requirements a. Persons aged between 18 and 39 (Persons born between September 1st, 1974 and August 31th, 1996) b. Persons who have not been convicted of imprisonment or heavier punishment c. Persons who have no record of deportation or departure orders from the Republic of Korea d. Persons who are not restricted from departure of home country 6. Registration procedure a. Registration method: Registration by visit c. Required documents - Application form (Free distribution at registration places) ※ Application numbers are written on each application form, and one applicant can receive and submit one application form. If there is any error in an application form, correct it with correction fluid or tape before submits it. - A copy of passport (or ID card) ※ A copy of passport (or ID card) is required to be attached on the application form ※ Attach a copy of passport (or ID card) written in English (especially name) ※ If an applicant’s personal information on the passport is not exactly the same as the one on the application form, their entry to Korea is not permitted in any case, and the applicant is fully responsible for any problem caused by the differences in their personal information. . Therefore, applicants are strongly advised to make their passports before the registration, if possible. ※ We will use the personal information (name, date of birth, and gender) written on the application form and the applicant’s photo attached on the application form for their future employment in Korean, and these are not changeable in any case. - 2 photographs of 3.5 x 4.5cm (taken within 3 months) ※ If a photo is unable to identify, he/she couldnt take a test. d. Test fee Test Fee: 24 USD (or the equivalent in Thai Baht) ※ Applicants with valid reasons to cancel the registration during registration period, the applicant can receive full refund. Test Structure & Allotment of Scores and passing standard - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). - Listening and Reading test will be implemented continuously without a break. - Passing standard : Passers(for each industry) will be selected based on the test result(from the top scorer) among those who scored more than 80 points(Full score : 200 points) - All of the questions are to be taken from closed question bank based on “The Standard Textbook for EPS-TOPIK”. b. Necessary items for test - Examinees Admission Ticket (will be distributed on the registration day) - Passport (or ID Card) ➊ Applicants must bring his/her Passport identical to the one posted on his/her application form. ➋ No applicant is allowed to take the test without passport (or ID card) ➌ Black felt-tip pens or ball point pens for marking the answer sheet for the Optical Character Reader (OCR) ※ Answers marked with other writing materials (pencils, blue pens, etc) will be regarded as wrong answers. ※ One answer sheet will be distributed to each applicant only once and any replacement or correction is not allowed. Besides, correction of answers on the answer sheet with correction fluid or tapes will be regarded as wrong answer 8. Announcement of Test Result a. Announcement Date: September 19th (Fri), 2014 b. Validity period of test results (for passers) : Sep. 19th, 2014 ~ Sep. 18th, 2016 (For 2 years from the date of test result announcement) d. How to find out a test results for individual - Searching in a website(eps.go.kr) 9. Implementation of the Skills test - Passers can take an additional skills test if they want. Detailed schedule will be announced with the test result of the EPS-TOPIK. ※ Candidates with excellent results in the skills test would be recommended to Korean employers preferably. 10. Additional Information On the test day, mobile phones, cassette players, PDA, MP3 player, electronic dictionaries, and other electronic devices which are possibly used in cheating during the test are highly prohibited for applicants to bring to the test venue. If examinee have or use them in the test venue, he/she will be regarded as cheater. Test will be void, and examinees will NOT be eligible for taking the EPS-TOPIK for 2 years in case of cheating during the test. If an applicant’s personal information on the passport is not exactly the same as the one on the application form (name, date of birth, and gender), their registration to the EPS job seekers’ roster and entry to Korea is not permitted in any case, and the applicant is fully responsible for any problem caused by the differences in their personal information. For improvement of Proficiency in Korean, all of the questions are to be taken from closed question bank based on “The Standard Textbook for EPS-TOPIK”. Passing EPS-TOPIK does not guarantee employment in Korea; it only allows you to register your job application. Moreover, persons who are restricted from the employment in Korea, such as those who do not pass the medical examination or who have the record of illegal stay in Korea, cannot be selected as job seekers. According to MOU between Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Labour of the Kingdom of Thailand on sending workforce under EPS, only Department Of Employment (DOE) has the legal authority to send Thai workers to the Republic of Korea. Only the job seekers who passed EPS-TOPIK and registered on the roster by the DOE can be hired by Korean employers. If any other private sectors are involved in procedure for sending workforce, there will be the legal punishment for those acts. It costs 24 USD(or same amount in local currency) for an applicant to take EPS-TOPIK and only the certain amount of money noticed officially as a sending cost by DOE during the registration period of a job application form will cost you for entering Korea under the EPS. Besides, except DOE, any other agency or person is not allowed to be related to employment procedures of EPS. For this reason, all applicants should be aware of this fact and protect themselves from any damages or losses caused by anyone or any other agencies’ absurd (deceiving) proposal related to recommendation or employment in Korea under the EPS.
