Anon asks Hi TNP I am still breastfeeding my 16 month old. He nurses first thing in the morning, when I get home from work in the late afternoon, just before bed and sometimes he will wake during the night to nurse. On wknds its a bit more, some days he will nurse a lot and others not so much. He is also on solids. My question is, I really would like to loose some of my stubborn leftover baby weight, and wondering if it is safe yet to try going on a strict diet in order to shed some serious lbs? I have heard its not great to go on restrictive diets or high protein diets (not that I have decided which diet to try yet) but is that only applicable to mothers who are nursing infants (i.e. infants that take in much more than a toddler on solids)? I have tried and failed at eating healthy and in moderation, and excersising, but with me its an all or niothing thing if I am going to succeed. I mean, will it do my son any harm if I go on a high protein diet? Or just limit my food to fresh fruit and veggies and protein etc? I always worry that if I am feeling too hungry I am restricting myself too much thus possibly harming the quality of my breastmilk. Not sure if I am over-thinking this! Thx 😊 x
