Anon asks Sorry for the length but there is so much to cover. Im hoping your readers will help me as Im feeling quite stressed --- Sorry for the long post, but please help! Im a first time mum to a 4 month old & a single parent. Im returning to work soon, full time & at a new firm. Im hoping to continue BF but Im starting to feel anxious about how Im going to do it. How do other mums do it? Do you pump during the day & where in the office do you pump? Can I get through the day not pumping & just have bub on some formula during the day while at daycare, but BF immediately before & after daycare. I figure I can get through a 8-10 hour night when bub sleeps through & I dont pump then so maybe I can do something similar during the day. Or maybe just pump once during the day, at lunch & both breasts or something. I work in a male dominated industry, Im not comfortable pumping in a toilet nor do I think a first aid room is appropriate either as I cant expect the first aid room to be unavailable often through the day when Im in there & Id like some privacy. A meeting room might be an option but rarely have I seen meeting room doors with locks on them. I know this might seem silly but Im not comfortable telling my employer about my requirements as Im concerned Ill be discriminated against. They dont know anything of my personal circumstances about being a new mum with a bub & I dont want them to. I was hugely discriminated against at work when pregnant hence I am now starting over at a new firm as Im not comfortable returning to the old firm. Of all the firms Ive worked at in the past Ive never seen a dedicated facility/room for BF/pumping so Im not hopeful the new firm will accommodate this. I feel stressed trying to figure this all out on my own & being all new to this is not helping. I have very little family support in the city I live in & I live alone. I am exhausted on a day to day basis doing this on my own & Im not even back at work yet. Part time work is not an option nor is working from home. Please help with any info or suggestions. TIA xx
