Anon message Just wondering - Those of you who have T1s that board at their school (Mondays to Fridays or similar) due to special needs (Aspergers in my particular case) face issues with being given help with getting the extra transport home in order to attend medical clinics? Ive just got off the phone to my local authority to try to organise my sons transport as he has 2 really important diabetes appointments over the next few weeks to be told that they will only provide the 2 journeys as stated on the contract and that I have to organise anything else. Whilst I understand what they are saying, my sons school is over 40 miles away, the only one that can cater for his needs locally and I dont drive... I simply cant afford to retrieve him myself, he was only recently diagnosed and hes 12... What am I meant to do next? Keep him off for the entire week to be able to get him to these appointments? Cancel said appointments? I understand what theyre saying I really do, but its making me so frustrated to do whats best!
