Anon please - I am fed up with the single parent women of this - TopicsExpress

Anon please - I am fed up with the single parent women of this town getting slated! Maybe the men need to step up and take responsibility! No woman would choose to be a single parent. The father of my first two children was a gambler and thanks to him I lost my first step on the property ladder. At the age of 21 I managed to secure a mortgage on my own and was doing well, until I met him and he threw my savings away because I was stupid enough to trust him. I got out of the relationship but had to sell the house to pay of his debts and ended up in council housing because he gave up his job rather then pay maintenance. I then worked hard to go through college and get in to university and passed with a Social Work Degree. However, during this time I met another man and because of a faulty conception implant had another child, which although not planned I did not have the heart to abort as I am a grown woman and therefore would have no grounds. When my child was four months old, he hit me on New Years Eve resulting in a broken eye socket and surgery. I chose to leave him because of the effect on my other two children and also for my new-born and the effect it would have on him and myself. Is this wrong? Should I have put up and shut up? I am now in a position where I am on benefits and living in council housing, but its not by choice. My youngest is three and has just started Nursery at School from 9-12, I mentioned today that Mommy was looking for a job and he had a melt down! What I am I meant to do? Do I ignore him and do it anyway or spend another year on benefits? The Father in question of this youngest child, lives in my opinion the life of riley, working a two bit job and paying the minimum in child support, where as I could be earning a decent living to support his child and my other children, but because he is so young I choose to stay at home rather then him brought up by strangers, especially with all the pedo activity being highlighted in Nurserys these days. Its a bloody joke and about time the men in this town realised you dont buy children off a shelf and they are equally responsible and they dont need a round of applause every time they do some thing they should be doing anyway, like supporting there child!!!
