Anonymous Just got engaged to my Caucasian boyfriend of more than 8 years. I am 27 and he is 30. My education and career are very important to me as well as being a home owner so we waited. We are planning to have our wedding in 2 more years. Ive talked to my parents before about it and have expressed to my parents not to expect a bride price/dowry as we will be footing our own wedding bill. The venues we are looking at are from $35-55/plate. I would like to incorporate Hmong themes in my wedding and want to wear matching Hmong clothes then change to a traditional wedding dress. How can I do this smoothly? Most venues are from 5-10pm I dont want Hmong elders making a 5 hour speech! Also, how do I let the older Hmong people know they need to RSVP? We are planning a beautiful outdoor fall garden wedding with pumpkins and lights around the trees and dance floor and candles too. Most outdoor venues only seat 200. How do I invite relatives without offending other relatives? Im sure you guys know how Hmong people can be. I know they will lose heart but I cant have just my family there and none of his! Also, if I can find a venue where I can bring my own caterer, what types of Hmong food would you guys recommend? Thanks!
