Anonymous Submitted Story 5 visits to rehab, numerous stays at Millcreek detox, suboxine Drs, 2 different Methadone clinics.... I tried it all. For me it took jail,court ordered LONG term treatment, and meetings to get better. What started as experimental drug use took over my life before I even knew what was happening. What was fun to do became something I had to do to stay well. And I would do anything to get it . I went from being an athlete, 2 good jobs, good family, lots of friends, and a beautiful daughter who was happy to living on the streets far from home, stripping for money, no friends, my family disowning me, and no contact with my daughter who was taken away... High and lost. Ive experienced things that no person should ever have to go through. I share all if this because no one is above it. Many have the attitude that would never happen to me but it can and will. Its true what they say jails, institutions, and death. Im grateful everyday that I did not die (as I have overdosed). Many of my friends were not so fortunate. Its been 3 years since my last use. It definately took some work to get here. Everything I lost to heroin, I regained through sobriety. I am proof that all things are possible. My life is not perfect but it is good. My daughter has her mother back; the mother she has always deserved. And my hope has turned into faith.
