Anonymous Youtube Comment #999 17 hours ago Youre gorgeous and talented but I think its time you branched out a bit more on this channel. Try some more creative looks (you ARE a man painted as a fab mermaid, afterall) and less celebrity looks. I REALLY want to see you do a series of makeup looks on someone else. Im getting really bored. Joseph Harwood: Tutorials 1 second ago Hey F*****o. Thankyou for the compliments, I do get where youre coming from but at the end of the day youre gonna have to trust where Im going and if youre bored of my videos, maybe wait for the creative looks instead of telling me they bore you. I dont think thats a constructive critique and this goes out to everyone on my channel who thinks its appropriate to be hyper critical on everything I post. I dont think youre getting the dynamic of youtube, its all girl viewers who dont search for creative looks and Im not prepared to make a fool of myself and do comedic nonsense to gain the justified response I should be getting. If you put me as a makeup artist next to all the gurus on youtube I have professional quality videos, I am the CEO of a cosmetics line and I work consistently with a mix of editorial and celebrity clientele. I can more than hold my own, yet being gender ambiguous and pushing genuine beauty tutorials feels like Im swimming against the current. If I get the lighting wrong in a video and I dont look absolutely like a female, all the people all over the world who dont appreciate it will then attack me vehemently. If I get the lighting wrong in a single video I get a stream of comments saying Ive used the brightness to hide my skill as a makeup artist. Every time I try and do a celebrity look I get someone saying that I shouldnt be doing a look because Im too pale... I just did a direct reference from a Pat McGrath look and 6 people in my audience decided to message me or comment saying how they didnt like yellow eyeshadow or that it would be perfect if I hadnt used lipgloss or whatever else. Its just absolutely tedious. When you have a professional studio and camera, every image I use as a thumbnail is a photoshoot, I get videos done as the trends occur, all my skills are unique and developed as is the makeup and products I use. I only use affordable makeup thats of quality in my videos and I give honest reviews... Yet I consistently get this kind of tone in my feedback, so Im sorry but the only way that actually progresses and expands my audience as a credible makeup artist, and NOT a comedy guru, is to get the videos absolutely perfect. Which means sometimes I have to refilm, which means sometimes they might repeat. So I honestly dont care if all the niche audience who feel safe expressing their feelings on my videos dont get where Im coming from or are a little bored of seeing my skillset, because Im trying to appeal to EVERYONE. I just wish that theyd be less harsh in their critiques because I have to be absolutely exceptional to get the response I deserve from everyone else. So I appreciate this, but at the end of the day its very easy sitting in bed watching a million cis men or gorgeous ladies be taken seriously as a makeup artist in this forum and compare my videos to that. But this is the methodology that gained me 65,000 subscribers in 12 months and this is how Im going to continue. I am man, and I do resemble a mermaid, but I am also working very hard to be accepted as a talented PERSON and not as a niche who has to exploit trans topics or comedy videos to get the deserved view count. Rant over. No shade directly to you, but to everyone that sees this video. #imonadetoxsopleasedontshademeiwilldefinitelyhavesomethingtosay
