Anonymous asks, Mr. Feeney, I cant seem to get motivated to get an education. Im a college student now and I feel like the more time I spend here the more debt Im going to be in later. Ive thought about the military, but I feel like If I were to enlist I need to be passionate about it, and not just doing it for the benefits Ironically, I do not subscribe to the theory that higher education is the most important thing in the world when it comes to getting a job and making a living. It can be a great thing, but its pointless for most people, especially when it comes to earning a business degree. Unless youre somewhere that your professors were incredibly successful in the real world and teach for the love of it, its a waste of time and youre most likely learning from someone who doesnt know a damn thing about what they claim to be teaching. For instance, if a business professor was so amazing at running a business, wouldnt they be....running a business? I do however believe that college can be incredibly important to your life, in that it provides you with an incredible social opportunity that post High School, you will never come across ever again. I usually only recommend college to people who either truly need it for their profession *teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc* or those who want to meet new people in a new setting and grow from the experience. As for joining the military, its not an Option B. Its either the only thing you can see yourself doing, or it isnt right for you. I am proud to say I am very close with many members of the armed forces, and they are 1000% dedicated. If youre on the fence about joining, you shouldnt be joining. *Feeney Salute to all of our men and women in the armed forces*
