Anonymous tech needs contamination advice: I have had a problem at my facility and wondered if you could tell me what your policy is. I opened up for a case recently and after moving the tray of instruments from the pan onto my field I found a dirty cannulated piece. There was dried blood inside. I informed the surgeon and he wanted the whole case thrown out and started over. One contaminated piece in a set contaminates the whole set, right? What would your course of action have been? This case was a major ortho case and there was a lot of waste. How do you all go about checking instruments?
