Another EXCELLENT letter to the editor: Letter from Curtis J. Ransom: Daniels unworthy to lead Purdue "Rep. Charlie Brown of Gary thinks that Mitch Daniels and the board of trustees at Purdue should all resign. I disagree. I think that in the best interest of Purdue University, Purdue should fire them. Daniels wanted to “disqualify the propaganda” by historian Howard Zinn. That’s like the pot calling the kettle black. Daniels didn’t have a problem with the propaganda that he pushed on the good people of this state. His formula for academic reform was to bully the schoolteachers and cut millions of dollars in education funding. His formula for job creation was to sign the right-to-work law. His claim that companies would only come here if Indiana had the right-to-work law was based on a bunch of fictional companies. His most laughable effort at propaganda was that the state of Indiana was the envy of all the countries in the world because we had a $2 billion surplus. The truth was that tax money was being hoarded away to make Daniels look good on his way out of the governor’s office. It wasn’t about the good of the state or the good of the people here. Purdue has over the years developed a reputation as an excellent academic institution. The hiring of Daniels as their president has sullied their reputation. He shouldn’t have been hired and now needs to be fired. CURTIS J. RANSOM Spencerville
