Another One Rides the Bus - journal entry 10/18 - This morning, I told told Yolanda that riding the bus to work can serve as a way to relax before a stressful day. I had no idea how true that was until this morning. I got on the bus in Chanhassen, put my earbuds in my ears, turned on So What by Miles Davis, settled into my seat, closed my eyes, and just decided to hang loose, you know. Let it cool. Let the coolness get into my vertebrae. (Thank you, Mel Brooks.) When I opened my eyes again, none of the buildings looked familiar, and my first thought was, Uh-oh. Where am I? I instantly say up, trying to find something I recognized. After about ten seconds, I found it. It was the Depot skating rink. I was still in downtown, but I had slept past my stop by about ten blocks. Now, if I had written up next to TCF Bank Stadium, then I wouldve been in real trouble. Fortunately, it was 30 minutes between when I got off my first bus to board the second, so I could take it easy on the walk back to my stop. Missing reading time at Barnes and Noble is all that would happen. So taking the bus is getting more relaxing as time goes on. I just have to make sure I dont get too deep into the coolness next time.
