Another Pipeline Explosion Occurs At Ogijo-Ilara — March 21, 2014 A petroleum product evacuation facility has exploded at Ogijo-Ilara in the outskirt of Lagos State. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday that a pipeline at Og ijo-Ilara behind the Redeemed Christian Church camp had exploded. NEMA said authorities had shut product supplies as well as the pipeline valves to avert further complications. The report did not state when the fire started or the possible cause of the explosion. Meanwhile, the public relations officer of NEMA south west, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye said the fire had been put off. The fire according to him was extinguished at about 10.30 yesterday. Explaining the cause of the explosion Farinloye said ,”The vandals tried to do a perfect job by breaking the pipeline and installed two valves which syphoned fuel into tankers parked across a creek far away from the area”. He said the vandals used hose to connect to the receiving tankers. Leadership.
