Another SPLENDID email from a polo playing student. Id saying following up (see what I did there ha ha) on us talking in the course about get the horse to follow the thing hes frightened of and the bridge between fear and overcoming fear is curiousity. A few weeks have passed since the foundation course and I am using the ideas every day. Here is a link to a video of a horse I am particularly impressed with https://youtube/watch?v=mAh47DDdymw. I bought this horse at auction knowing he had issues. Head shy, kicks and very frightened. Gave him a week to settle down and then tried join up with him. The first day I worked with him he was rearing and turning tail kicking with both barrels. He was so scared that when I released him he actually broke the wooden fencing you can see on the video by barging straight through it. This video is 5 days later. Today (day7) I rode him with a polo mallet and hit a ball all at a lovely slow relaxed walk. he has completely changed. As you can see he wasnt on a lead, he was quite happily following the ball (which three days earlier had terrified him) and he was so joined up I walked him, without a lead rope, 50m through a field of mares to put him back in his field. Just thought you might be interested. Simon Bower
