Another Small Step Spread over 1,890 square miles, Mewat, with - TopicsExpress

Another Small Step Spread over 1,890 square miles, Mewat, with a population of 10.89 lakh, is an economically-backward district of Haryana located in the national capital region (NCR). Mewat, 60 kilometers away from Delhi is a place where social backwardness of the region is marked with highest student drop out rates, the society which is only 45 kilometers from millennium city, Gurgaon, and is being treated by government as step mother - further aggravating the social backwardness of Meo community. Officials find it scary to work there, government pays incentive to people to work there. I believe Mewat is in India, and a part of NCR, but there is still no lights, and it deserves development, if we want people to progress, if India wants progress. We need education, health, infrastructure and jobs......the last seems to be missing....there are no jobs.....in Mewat. There are thousand of such Mewat in India, which would have millions students. There no senior secondary school in close periphery and parents dont allow their kids to go far for education. The nearest school in the region is at 18 kilometres. Class X is also a major obstacle for higher education. Jobs are scarce in towns, cities....do we expect mewat to have jobs, when students of reputed college are feeling challenge to get jobs....is our development restricted to cities, and media is hyping development in cities, let them go to interior India, if they can not go to Mewat, will they be able to go to Interior of India and we see sadness just 70 km away from glittering millennium city, is there hope for towns like Mewat or lacs of students who are educated. I cannot answer this question alone. We met , a family, who sold their land to get his son through the engineering degree, and there is hope in the eyes of young men and women, they want to do something and want to earn simple living..but economic crisis is forcing jobs away, companies are reducing workforce, or want multitasking professionals, most companies restructure and reduce, move away from business, hire old hands rather than young. I have a question should the retirement age injobs should be reduced, as there is no jobs anywhere, if old doesnot move new cannot do, and old is needed for wisdom, this is catch 22 situation. Should business be owner driven, or professionally driven, I dont know the answer, but we need to find a solution. I have friends who run small time business, they are thinking of moving into job, as the business is taking hit of political and economic meltdown, What will Mewat and students of similar town do then, will they get employed if people move awa from business and join working, there are many who will open new, but how many. As the RBI governor has said, if the situation doesnot become better, we will be in 1991 situation, high unemployment and high inflation. what will happen to million of students from engineering, manageent and many more in lower educated cadre, what will happen, IIM are facing crisis to get corporates.....just imagine is there hopes for Students of Mewat. There is argument I hear every day, that people of villages dont need much to survive in villages. It is wrong assumption, they need light water and rest of the amenities like we do in cities, but are not getting basics also, I have seen students still studying with oil lamps. They need more because they are in interior and they feed us if there families dont produce, they depend on loads of things, we find that is unequally placed. This is not only with Mewat, but with every town I visited like Aligarh, Bilaspur, Israna (The famous rally), Pataudi, we have seen that we get thousand young men and women land up when jobs are announced, but we have few to offer. It is sad to see them leave with pain and we can feel the pain, as they dont have a choice, are we producing enough jobs. With help of WAKF Board, there are some efforts being done in some ways, they have opened Engineering college, medical institute and some self help groups, India doesnt live in Gurgaon, Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai, the metros, mewat and likes is where the real india breathes and lives and 60% of youth are fighting for a living, MNREGA is dead beat and fod security. come and see for yourself, I was talking to friend of mine in business, they find it difficult, to set up small businesses, just 70 kilometers away from the shining and glitter of cities, we see nothing. There are lacs of kids, who need jobs and ready to go, but can we open a BPO in Mewat, I dont know. MEC, Mewat Engineering college is one such effort, we conducted a small job fair to help engineering students, and it was successful to at least get awareness with corporates, the theme was that corporates should look at small town engineering colleges, which also have talent. I hope our efforts will help Mewat to be part of our society rather than step mother treatment, which it sees now.
